Lunch Problems

1 sock done:

Recent Problem:

I've always put food pretty high up on my priority list (well okay, it's usually top place). But recently I've actually been too busy to eat much at work. I know, I know, I used to think that food is essential to working more too--but it's weird that once I've put food second place, the pattern emerges and now I find myself eating lunch at 3:30, and only subsiding on 1 large latte, 1 fruit tart, and half a muffin today.

Calorie guesses:
latte 360
tart 400
half a muffin 300

Horrible. I need to force myself to at least buy a Subway for lunch, and consume less drinks.

edit: Who wants to share 15 lbs $2299 of Wagyu with me? (Only $153/lb! I ate 4-6 oz in Kobe for $60 lunch--although the chef's preparations were delicious~~)

On a side note, next time I'm in Japan, Matsusaka beef here I come~

Okay who thought beef in a post with horrible lunch is ironic raise your hands

A little bit longer

A bit more progress, but needs to be a bit longer. Probably do the toe part when I completely cover my toes.

The problem is, I somehow found 15 stitches on one needles instead of 16. Where did it go? I tried to undo different columns of stitches and can't find it... I'll need to stop being lazy and just rip it back a bit.

Other things in the picture: cat bookend, pencil pouch, chapstick, leftover ball of Dream in Color that my mom wants me to make a lace-edged hat to go with her socks for Little Aunt (the yarn is soooo smooshy and the colors are so nice), Ricola wrapper, and a brochure from the friendly US Department of State added with my new passport.

Oh yeah: I'm going to Paris & Egypt 3/6-3/20, whooooo~!

Exercise

Today was my first day back in the gym in a long while:
5 minutes rowing (2:36/500m rate)
7 sets of bears (I think it was a 25lb curl bar)
2 minutes of rowing (2:45/500m)
left the gym after feeling like a wimp, and then really feeling crappy 5 minutes later

For a while there was a girl rowing 4:00 next to me and I was really amazed.

Also, I tried not putting my feet into the rower and it felt really awesome being free of the straps.

2009 exercise goals!:
squat body weight
lose 15 lbs
do a pull-up
row 2:00/500m
get into shape for Olympic weightlifting

Restaurant Review: Takara

I just went to Takara last week finally, after a couple of months' anticipation. Their menu is very traditional, filled with items like chawanmushi and mountain vegetables and other things that are not normally offered in a lower-end/fashionable sushi place. It's in the SF Japantown mall, but in the quiet eastern corridor with Ichiban Kan and Hotel Kabuki, and was filled with Japanese families on a Friday night. All these are good indications of its caliber.

I ordered chirashi and a pair of mackerel (saba) and tuna (maguro)--it was pleasant to find that nigiri fish were cut differently than chirashi fish, which were more cut like sashimi. Miso soup was a bit salty but tasted strongly of miso instead of other shops' instant soup powder. Tempura was crispy and light. The saba and tamago were delicate and allowed their intrinsic flavor to come through.

Takara is definitely my new favorite place to eat sushi in the city. Compared with its selection and quality, the prices were very reasonable.

Laundry list of stuff

I take the UCSF shuttles for work everyday, and sometimes it's a pleasant 15 minutes, but sometimes the driver drives so aggressively and has awful habits that all I do during the ride is close my eyes and pray or try my best not to be sick.

I am almost 25% done with my knitted socks. I am a bit afraid they will turn out too small, but I guess I will get an extra pair and make another one if necessary.

Writing everyday is very hard. I don't know how Ryo does it...
